Obituary for Sidney Williams Sr.

Bro. Sidney Williams, Sr. a native and of resident Theodore, Alabama. Sidney was the only son born to the union of Nathan “Manzie” Williams and Judie Feagan Williams on July 26, 1933. He departed this life for eternity on April 6, 2022 at Springhill Memorial Hospital.

Sidney was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Clarita Coleman Williams; his devoted oldest daughter, Lula Williams Robinson; his loving grandson, Sidney JaVon Conner, his loving great-grandson, Bryson Smith; three sisters, Inez Henderson, Louise Paul and Mary Black.

Sidney confessed Christ at an early age where was a faithful member, his entire life, of First United Methodist Church until his health began to fail.

Sidney was a veteran of The Korean War. A hard determined worker: working at Brookley Field, Taylor Construction, Ingalls Shipbuilding, worked as a security guard at the DMV in Tillmans Corner, Chickasabouge Park and the Navy Base. He also did drywall construction as a side job as well as transporting riders to and from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He was an avid boxing and baseball fan. Sidney and a couple of friends started The Theodore Rockets Baseball Team.

Sidney was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandaddy, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves to cherish his memories six devoted children: Alvin L. Williams, of Theodore, AL, Elvis “Chubby” Williams, of St. Elmo, AL, Sidney Williams, Jr. of Grand Bay, AL, Andrea M. Williams of Theodore, AL, LaTangia (Detrich, Sr.) Bush of Mobile, AL & Diedrel (Cassius) Leslie of Theodore, AL. Twenty-one grandchildren, thirty great-grands, and four great-great grands. One devoted sister, Margaret Moore of Theodore, AL; three sisters-in-law: Betty Coleman of Irvington, AL, Ethel Coleman of Pensacola, FL & Mary Louise Hunter of Theodore, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, one devoted military brother, Lomac Payton of Galesberg, IL, and neighbors.
