Obituary for Sylvester Owen Carstarphen Sr.
Sylvester exchanged life for eternity on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
A resident of Mobile Alabama, Sylvester was born December 16, 1962 to the parents of Robert Earl Sr and Mary Legion Carstarphen. After graduating from Vigor High School in 1981, Sylvester joined the U.S. Army where he served seven years from November 06, 1981, until June 18, 1992, rising to the ranks of SSG. After leaving the service, Sylvester worked as a Corrections Officer in the State of Georgia before moving back home and working as a Distribution Associate at Beacon and Medart Inc for more than 20 years. Sylvester was also a member at Green Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully and dutifully.
Sylvester was preceded in death by his mother Mary L Carstarphen, two brothers, Robert Earl Jr and Darrin Leon Carstarphen, and his nephew Anthony Carstarphen. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Monica Carstarphen, his sons Antonio (Lisa) Sampson and Sylvester (Kimberly) Carstarphen, Jr, his niece, Kendrell Sampson, who he loved and helped raised as his daughter, his father Robert Earl Carstarphen Sr, his sisters Azeline McDaniel, Mary Ann, Eva, Matilda (Jim) Gallery, April, and Cathy Carstarphen, Brenda Saxton, Felecia Napper, his Mother-in-law Deloris Sampson-Jackson, his grandsons, Antonio and Evan Sampson and Sylvester Carstarphen III, his only granddaughter Kelsey Carstarphen, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, family, and friends.
