Obituary for Thomas Edward Nelson "School Boy"

Thomas Edward Nelson (Schoolboy), 81, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. He was born in Mobile, AL on March 9, 1941, to the late Steve and Emma (Gable) Nelson. He grew up in Mobile and graduated from Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School in 1960. In 1963, he moved to Dayton, OH where he dedicated his life to Christ at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church on July 3, 1966. Schoolboy was employed at General Motors Corporation Frigidaire Division Plant and retired in 1980. He moved back to Mobile, AL and worked at Albert P. Brewer Development Center, Springhill Toyota and he was a pillar of his community. He became a faithful member of Aimwell Baptist Church and Masonic Hiram Lodge No. 3 F. & A. M. Schoolboy enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, and spending time with his friends on MLK Avenue.

He was preceded in death by brothers Alfred Lucious and Steve Nelson.

He is survived by devoted brother J. Lebaron (Wanda) Nelson and sisters: Brenda (Greg) Spencer, Bessie (Spencer) Grayson, and Cathy (Vincent) Walter. Loving father to Rochelle Nelson, Jenine (Dominic) Gray, (Dorothy Douglas) and Chelsea Nelson (Sylvia Hopper). Doting grandfather to Requel Pate, Raeon Nelson, Donje Gray, Aniyah and Ayden White. Proud great-great father to Jaivon and Jaikwon Captain, Donje Gray, Jaishon Captain, Jaylee and Juluis Nelson, Aniyah White, Mi’Quel Pate, Rae’onna Nelson, Ayden White. Also cherishing his memories are a host of devoted cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
