Obituary for Ursula Franklin Swann

Ursula Franklin Swann departed her earthly home on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the age of 79. Until her passing, she remained a woman of strong faith, happy spirits, and quick wit. A woman who valued her family over all things. Ursula was born on October 26, 1942 to the union of Jule and Dallie Franklin in Prichard, Alabama, as one of thirteen children. She began her education at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School and retired from a long career with Chapter 13Bankruptcy. As a devout Catholic of St. James Major Catholic Church, she was a dedicated servant leader within the parish. She has been a faithful member of the Ladies Auxiliary Court #172, Drexel Society, Ladies of Fidelity, St. Vincent de Paul, Adult Chorus, and the Rosary Group. Additionally in the community, she was an active member of Lillie Wicks Women’s Federated Club. Ursula is preceded in death by both parents and four of her siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted sons: Derrick (Gnae) Swann of Panama City, FL, and Albert Carl Swann of Mobile, Alabama. She also leaves a loving legacy of six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, eight siblings; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, godchildren, and friends. A celebration of life and mass will be held on Tuesday, May 17th at St. James Major Catholic Church in Prichard, AL. A public viewing will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 9:30 a.m., with the funeral beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place immediately following at Gethsemane Cemetery.
