Verlanda Saffold was born on December 9, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois to the proud parents of Samuel Jackson Sr. and Loretta Jackson. She was one of nine children, being the fifth of her siblings and the youngest of her twin. Verlanda started her elementary school education at W.E.B. Dubois Elementary School in Chicago, Illinois. When she was in 6th grade her family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she attended Roosevelt Junior High School. After completing Junior High Verlanda would go on to attend Bayview High School. During High School Verlanda participated in many activities. Verlanda was a very popular and well-liked student. She would always participate in after school activities, from Cheerleading, Dance, and various club activities. Verlanda was a very smart and bright student. During Junior High she met her husband of 39 years, Kevin Saffold. After graduating from Bayview High School, she married Kevin and entered the service with her as his spouse. From that union two beautiful children were born, Vanessa Saffold and Kevin Saffold II. As an Army wife Verlanda was able to travel across the United States and Europe exploring different countries and cultures. Verlanda would then start her career in the medical field. First as a home health specialist working with hospice patients. She would later switch careers and become a Florist specialist.

After a few years Verlanda would later hear her calling to return to the medical field, this time as a CNA which she would later retire from. After retiring Verlanda dedicated her life to her grandchildren. Verlanda was a caring and loveable person. She loved to laugh and crack jokes. She would always make sure everyone was taken care of. She was known as the peacemaker in the family, helping to resolve any family issues.

Verlanda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and would often have prayer with her Mother-In-Law Janie Saffold. The Lord knew that Verlanda had led a wonderful life and decided that her pain should end. He called her home on Thursday June 22, 2023.

Verlanda is survived by her Husband Kevin Saffold, Daughter Vanessa Saffold, Grandchildren Valerie Adams and Vincent Saffold, Siblings Sharon Whiteside, D'anna Beard, Charmaine Walker (Frank), Donnie Jackson, Derrick Jackson, Thomas Jackson (Venetta) and Twin Yolanda Tallis (Tyrone), Mother-In-Law Janie Saffold, Sisters-in-Law Donya Saffold, Deirdre Saffold, Katrina McGhee (Greg), Sharron Ross (Larry), Brothers-in-Law Dion Saffold and Adrian Saffold (Lisa) and a Host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Verlanda is preceded in death by her Son Kevin Saffold II, Mother Loretta Jackson, Father Samuel Jackson and brother Samuel Jackson Jr.
