Obituary for Vernon Hankins

Mr. Vernon Hankins was born June 10, 1960 in
Chicago, Illinois to the late Paul and Edith
Hankins and the grandson of the late Reverend
Henry L. and Lois Hankins. He was long time
resident of Fairhope, Alabama.
He was a member of the prominent Hankins
family whose roots were planted in the historic
Twin Beech Community.

Vernon rededicated his life to Christ and was called home
Wednesday, September 28, 2022 after a short period of failing
health with twenty-two years of dialysis, he could fight no more.
He is preceded in death by father, Paul Hankins, mother, Edith
Hankins, brothers: Cornelius Parnell and Howard Hankins, and
sister, Debbie Curtis.
Vernon Hankins had a big heart and he was a loving father,
grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
He was a dreamer, funny, and charming. He loved listening to
music, watching movies, shows, driving his cars, hanging with
family and friends, and telling jokes. Vernon was definitely the life
of the party and he touched others in so many ways and he will
truly be missed by so many.
Vernon leaves to cherish his many memories, three daughters:
Falen (Gerald) Benton of Suffolk, VA, Ashley Hankins of Bronx,
NY and Angel (Tracey) Presley of Fairhope, AL; six
grandchildren: Jalen, Kamryn, Khi Benton, Peyton Jones, Zoie
Faux and Marleigh Presley; four brothers: Donnie Parnell of
Chicago, IL, Samuel Hankins of New Orleans, LA, Paul (Shonda)
McWhorter of Mobile, AL and Vanius McWhorter of Conyers
GA; two sisters: Paula (Cozy) Brown of Mobile, AL and Delores
Miles of St. Paul, MN; a devoted friend, Trina Hankins; devoted
cousin/sister, Hester Jones and Lester Jones; a host of aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
