Virginia Tabb Lucas was born on July 2, 1926 to the late Ollie M. and Virginia Tabb in Dallas County, AL. She was a resident of Mobile, AL for nearly 70 years. She was the sixth of eight children and a graduate of Brighton High School in Brighton, AL. She confessed Christ at an early age and was married to the late David Lucas for 32 years.
She was a member of ElBethel P.B. Church for over 40 years where she taught Sunday School, sung in the choir and faithfully attended Baptist Training Union(BTU). She later united with Mt. Hebron M.B. Church in her community of Trinity Gardens. As a community advocate, she was always helping others-taking seniors to the doctor, serving on the local PTA and volunteering with Mobile Community Action. She was a member of the Mobile Botanical Gardens(MBG) first Master Gardener’s class and volunteered with MBG in the greenhouse for over 20 years. She was always ready to drop her fishing line in the water in hopes of making a big catch; in which she regularly did.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lucas; father, Ollie M. Tabb; mother, Virginia Tabb; Brothers, John Tabb and James Tabb; Sisters, Mary Will Tabb, Ruth Dailey, Otha Lee Houston and Georgia Mae Richardson.
