Obituary for William Garror Sr.

Deacon William Garror Sr. was born February 20, 1934 in Dallas County, Alabama and was a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. He was retired from the City of Mobile Public Works Department, where he worked diligently and faithful for forty years.

He confessed his belief and faith in the Savior, our Christ and was baptized at an early age, uniting with the New Hope Baptist Church in Dallas County, AL. Upon moving to Mobile, he united with the Little Welcome Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. G. L. King; he was a faithful church member. He served as the Church Treasurer, a Deacon and a member of the Male Chorus until his health began to fail him.

He departed this life on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at his home surrounded by his love ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Green and Mrs. Johnnie Sue Garror; Three sisters: Mrs. Mossie Callen, Mrs. Rheba Woody and Mrs. Barbara Copeland; Six brothers: Mr. Theodus Garror, Mr. James Garror, Mr. Ned Garror, Mr. Green Garror, Mr. John L. Garror and Mr. Leon Garror.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Doris Jean Garror; two sons: William (Sheryl) Garror and Willie James Mollette both of Mobile, AL; two daughters: Lisa (Solomon) Banks of Mobile and Patricia Thomas Winston of Racine, WI; three brothers: Jack (Barbara) Garror of Pocoima, CA, Rev. J. C. (Thelma) Garror and Marshall Garror both of Mobile, AL; six grandchildren: Daven (Carlos) Roberts, Olivia Banks, William Garror III, Ashley Banks, Khyah Garror and Meteo Garror all of Mobile, AL; four great-grandchildren: Jacob Garror of Key West, FL, Alsiea Banks, Brooklyn Thurman and Ethan Walker all of Mobile, AL; five brothers-n-law: Lavell (Margaret) Smith, Leon (Janice) Smith both of Mobile, AL, Michael (Shonnett) Smith of Wilmington, DE, Charles Smith and Robert (Deanna) Smith both of Rochester, NY; four sisters-in-law: Betty Blackston, Clentonia Garror both of Mobile, AL, Patricia (Arthur) Wallace of Jackson, MS and Phyllis Garror of Pocoima, CA; a host of nieces, one devoted: Shanta Garror, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends, one devoted: Joe Pope; a god-daughter, Yolunda (Ralph) Altice; his Forrest Street and Little Welcome Church families.
