William Stokes, Jr., affectionately known as “Bubba Stokes” to his
family and friends, was born on September 8, 1941 to William Stokes,
Sr. and Alice Edwards Stokes Dembo. He was the second of four
children.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. He was a
dedicated family man.
William attended Central High School. He was a loving father and
Devoted grandfather. HE LOVED FAMILY! During his later years, he
enjoyed family gatherings, doing yard work, and being outdoors, but
most of all being surrounded by his children and grandchildren
brought him great joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Stokes, Sr and Alice
Edward Stokes Dembo, and his stepfather, James Dembo, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories to: one daughter, Jaquita Lacey of
Mobile, AL; three sons, Scoey Dixon, William Dixon, and Henry Dixon all
of Mobile, AL; two sisters, Alice Stokes-LeDoux of Mobile, AL, and
Juanita (Raymond) Batiste of Texas; one brother, James Dembo, Jr. of
California; nineteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a
host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; one devoted
niece, Angela (Ronald, Sr.) Gaillard of Mobile, AL.
