Obituary for Willie Carson Sr.

Willie Carson, Sr., was born July 1, 1946, in Browns, Alabama to the union of Wilbert
Carson, Sr. and Thelma Brewer Carson.
Willie was a twin who was affectionally called “two baby” by family and friends. He
graduated from high school and was drafted into the United States Army during the
Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge.
Willie loved hunting and used every opportunity to get geared up and spend time with
family and friends in the woods. He also loved watching sports, especially tennis and
football. He loved spending time with his “backyard buddies” talking about everything
from sports to current events.
Willie was very devoted to the care and well being of his elderly mother that he loved
dearly.
Willie Carson, Sr. was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Carson, Sr., brothers
Wilbert Carson, Jr and Oscar Carson and daughter Monica Enita Evans.
On June 17, 2020, Willie departed this life to be with the Lord. He leaves to cherish his
memories his loving mother, Thelma B. Carson; his devoted wife of 34 years, Shirley B.
Carson; one sister, Georgia Mae (Johnnie) Fells; one son, Will Carson; three daughters,
Selena (Rev. Rick) Hardy, Robbin (Stanric) Lowe and Shannon Antalan; God-daughter,
Janay Hatcher; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Carson; forever friend, Catherine Todd; ten
wonderful grand children; one great granddaughter; aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and
four nephews that he called his boys; Terrel, Leonardo, Carlos and Wilbert, III Carson.
