Obituary

Deacon Willie Lee Hardin, Sr., “Mr. Bill” or “Big Daddy” as he was
affectionately known as a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL.
He was born June 15, 1929 and departed this life for eternity on
December 18, 2019, at home calmly and peacefully surrounded by
loved ones.
Deacon Hardin retired from the City of Mobile, Parks and Recreation
Department after thirty-one years of dedicated service. He was an

active member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church for forty-
eight years, where he worked tirelessly in many capacities until his

death. He truly enjoyed being a Deacon and mentoring others.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of sixty-five years,
Thelma Woodard Hardin; three children: Thelma Ann Hardin Evans,
John Rynard “Doby” Hardin and Jessie Lee Hardin.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Willie Lee Hardin, Jr. of
San Luis Obispo, CA; two loving daughters: his caregivers who were
with him holding his hands when he took his last breath, Phyllis
Hardin (Robert) Carroll of Daphne, AL and Regina Hardin (Galvin)
McCann of Theodore, AL; one devoted sister-in-law, Mary Louise
Hunter of Theodore, AL; one caring cousin-in-law, Dorothy Coleman
of Fowl River, AL; a host of grandchildren, three devoted: TaDario
Carson of Mobile, AL, DeLano Jermaine Carson of Mobile, AL and
Reginald Hardin of Ft. Walton, FL; many great-grandchildren; one

devoted, Ashanti Cierra Hardin of Daphne, AL; several great great-
grandchildren, one who admired him tremendously Ma’Kynstee

Brielle Hardin of Daphne, AL; many nieces, especially the Hardin
Girls of Doyle Avenue (Barbara, Janice and Jeanette) who were
always there to lend a helping hand; one great niece, Robin Hardin,
who made sure he had his medical supplies; one adopted niece, Andrea
Clipper, who never forgot to bring fish on Fridays; many nephews,
two devoted: Robert “Bubba” Hardin and Alvin Edwards; other
relatives, one very special, Gary Coleman; loyal friends by his side to
the end: Dannis Hardy, Deacon Henry Hamilton, Deacon & Sister
Coats, Sister Penny Jackson, Don Fraizer, Rosie “Hullie” Nettles,
Deborah Benjamin, Kevin “KK” Benjamin and especially Kim
O’Chab, Nurse Practitioner of Springhill Medical Center. He lived a
good long life and absolutely loved and adored by many people.
