Obituary for Charlie James White

Print
On October 9, 2018, the circle of the fabulous 12 siblings was broken when the Angels of Heaven called, and Charlie (Chazz Man) James White answered, “I’m ready to take my flight to heaven.”
Charlie was born on May 18, 1965, in Putnam, Alabama to Rev. James G. and Minnie Queen White. He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the Gooden Hill Baptist Church. Charlie was a graduate of Sweetwater High School where he played baseball and football. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was a Communication Field Wireman. While in the Marines, Charlie received the Meritorious Unit Commendation Award (twice), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal and a Letter of Appreciation. Charlie received an honorable discharge from the Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Charlie moved to Detroit, MI where he met his beloved Chiquita Ford. He started a new career in the Security Industry. At General Motors, he worked with great passion and integrity for 24 years in several positions, from being a Security Guard to his last position as Senior Security Operation Specialist for Global Security. While employed with GM, Charlie went back to school and earned his B.S. in Business Administration in 2011 from Baker College.
Charlie continued his relationship with Christ at Oak Grove A.M.E. Church in 1993 where he was a member of the Master’s Men Ministry and the Fish Fry Ministry. One year later, he married his beloved wife Chiquita on August 6, 1994. They were married for 24 years, during that time they enjoyed cruises, long road trips, camping, and cooking comfort foods. Charlie was a true family man that enjoyed big family events and was a loyal protector over all of his family members his friends and first and foremost his wife and daughters. When you went to their home, you didn’t want to leave. It was a marriage joined by the heavens until he was called home.
Charlie leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife Chiquita; three daughters, LaToya, Tiffany, and Britney; one granddaughter, Genesis; his parents, Rev. James and Minnie Queen White; 11 sisters and brothers, Estella Pharr (Charles), Doris Ankrah, Lorraine, Carolyn, Jonathan, Jenneice, Queen Smith (Connie), Cynthia, Ron (Shaunda), Shawn (Ursula), and Adrian White; One uncle, Johnny Lee White; father-in-law, James Ford (Roberta); mother-in-law Theresa Ford; brother-in-law Michael Ford; sister-in-law Stefanie (Donzell) Austin; Best Friend, Earl Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
