Jimmy Ambrose was born August 11, 1955 to Mattie Ambrose Battiste and the late Ocie V. Wheat and entered into eternal rest July 23, 2018.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Prichard, Alabama under the pastorate of Reverend Marshall C. Ezell.
After graduating with honors from Mattie T. Blount High School, he graduated with an Associate Degree from Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, MO before returning home to Mobile, Alabama.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Ocie V. Wheat; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Allie B. and Jimmy Ambrose; stepfather, Mr. Dennis Battiste, III; brothers: Carlos Battiste and John H. Wright; aunts: Cherry B. Ambrose and Eula Wheat Washington; and nephew, Kermit Kim, Jr.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories a devoted mother, Mrs. Mattie Ambrose Battiste; siblings: Deborah Kim (Earnest Lacy), Rose Carson (Charles Walters), Dennis (Pamela) Battiste, IV, Michael (Janice) Battiste, Sharon Battiste (Aaron Williams), and Jacquelyn (Dennis) Johnson; aunts: Ora Wheat Wormsby and Barbara Wheat Smith; uncle, Rolike (Bettie W.) Ambrose; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted cousins: Janie Harris, Mary Ann Loyd, Allie B. Law; other relatives and friends; devoted friend, Cynthia Dixon Jones.
His remains will lie in state on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 1–8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour in Small’s Mortuary Chapel, Mobile, Alabama . Interment will follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery, Theodore, Alabama.
