“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me
a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge,
shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto
all them also that longed for His appearing.”
2 Timothy 4: 7-8
Reverend Henry Lee Bright was born on March 4, 1935 to the
union of the Late Hollis and Leona Bright in Myrtlewood, AL.
Reverend Bright received his education through the Myrtlewood
Junior High and the Linden Academy School System. He later
moved to Mobile, AL in 1955 and started working at Kimberly
Clarke formally known as Scott Paper Company. He worked for
this company for over forty years until his retirement in 1995.
Reverend Bright united with the Green Grove Missionary
Baptist Church in 1978 under the leadership of the Late Great
Reverend Coleman Figures. Reverend Bright served faithfully
in many capacities including the Deacon Board, Trustee Board,
Male Chorus and Usher Board. God called Reverend Bright to
the ministry to proclaim this great Gospel in November of 1999.
He served faithfully until his health began to fail him in 2012.
Reverend Bright was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce
Pope; three brothers: James, Ralph and Samuel Bright; and a
grandson, Kendrick Harrison.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories a devoted wife of
forty-nine years, Pastor Willie Mae Bright; seven children: two
daughters: Janice Foster of Atlanta, GA, Cynthia Dubose of
Mobile, AL; five sons: Antonio Bright, Reverend Victor
(Donna) Dubose, Anthony (Deniece) Shamburger all of Mobile,
AL, Rodney (Antionetta) Dubose of San Antonio, TX and Obie
(Cheryl) Dubose of Los Angeles, CA; a mother-in-law, Mother
Mayola Figures of Mobile, AL; one sister, Virginia Chelavier of
Linden, AL; one brother, William (Geneva) Bright of Mobile,
AL; two sisters-in-law: Jan (Lance) Johnson of Mobile, AL and
Lizzie Bright of Linden, AL; two brothers-in-law: Reginald Rice
of Mobile, AL and Willie (Patricia) Rice of Cleveland, OH;
nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great
great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other
relatives and friends; one devoted cousin, Sammye Mitchell;
two devoted friends: Reverend James Barren and Frank
Robbins.

His remains will lie in state on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5-8pm at Small's Mortuary, Mobile. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Green Grove Baptist Church, 1807 Reddy Street, Prichard, AL. Interment will follow in the Whispering Pines Cemetery, Eight Mile, AL.
