Obituary for Bessie Margene McCants

Bessie Margene  McCants
Sis. Bessie Margene McCants, was a native of Marengo County and a resident of Mobile, Al for many years. Bessie made her peaceful transition on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

At a very young age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with Pine Grove Baptist Church in Alberta, Alabama. She was a graduate of Marengo County High School Class of 1961.

As a young woman, Bessie moved to New York where she lived and worked for many years. In 1975, Bessie yearned to be near her family in Mobile. Upon her return, she united with Peace and Goodwill Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R.O. Watts and currently Pastor Jerome Dean. She has served faithfully as President of the Usher Board for over 30 years, and as a member of the Pastor’s Aide Board.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her faithful and Pensacola, Fl; Godson, Terry Cleveland, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; devoted Scott Williams, Peace and Goodwill Church family, and friends.. Devoted friends Mildred devoted daughters, Tanisha Malloy and Ta’Shonda (Alaric) Ludgood; one loving granddaughter, Kennedi Eaton; nine brothers, her devoted twin Reuben, Richmond, Texas, Earl (Doreatha) Frisco City, Roey (Barbara) Bay Minette, Douglas (Tammy) Foley, Francis (Gloria) Saracen, Fl, Bishop (Diane), Patrick (Patricia), Martin (Sheriel), and Wilmer (Melanie) McCants all of Ransom, Ceola Paige, Donna Jesse, Jacqueline Dees, Carrie Lucy, and William Smart III.

Special thanks to Providence Hospital CC unit for their special care during the illness of our beloved Bessie.

Her remains will lie in state on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 4-5pm at small’s Mortuary, Mobile, AL. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 10am until the 11am funeral hour at El Bethel P.B. Church 1200 Gayle Street, Mobile, AL.

Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Cemetery, Theodore, AL.
