Obituary for Gladis Ruth Reese

Gladis Ruth  Reese
Gladis Ruth Reese was born on May 23, 1943 in Mobile, Alabama. She was the oldest of eleven children in the union of Albert and Ossie-Dean Reese, Sr. Gladis accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and attended church in Mobile regularly with her parents. After graduating from Mattie T. Blount High School in Eight Mile, Alabama she met and married Isaac Moultrie and they had three lovely children, Cassandra Dean, Isaac Lamar and Anthony.

In 1964 the family moved from Mobile, Alabama to Los Angeles, California where Gladis and Isaac remained married for ten years. They later parted ways and Gladis searching for an opportunity to better their lives, moved with her three children to Carson, California. The family remained in Carson for many years and Gladis worked in the banking and finance industry. Gladis Reese was a consonant writer and in May 2005 self-published “Anthology of Poetry “A Feast for the Soul.” Years later in 2014 Gladis published one of her many books called, “Run to God for Everything.” Over the years Gladis worked for the LA Times, Herald Examiner Newspaper, and the Daily Breeze in Display Advertising. She also owned her own magazine called Coastline Magazine in the 1980’s. Gladis edited some nineteen travel books including “Hello Italy”.

In 1997, Gladis founded Gods Kids USA, Inc., a children’s charity and non-profit organization that helps needy children throughout the world ‘Year Round. God’s Kids USA, Inc., was very dear to Gladis and she devoted much of her time to the organization providing clothing, food, Bibles and financial assistance those in need.

Later Gladis decided to return back to school and at the age of 50 years old she earned her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education and obtained her Teaching Credential from Biola University in La Mirada, California. She began teaching English and other subjects at LAUSD and later earned her Master’s Degree in Science from California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. She retired from LAUSD in 2012 and during her spare time she loved to write. In her last days, Gladis also loved witnessing and telling people about Jesus Christ our “Lord and Savior”. As well, she loved to pray for families and people all over the world. She was a faithful church member attending Crenshaw Christian Center for over twenty years and later became a member of Love and Unity Christian Fellowship in Compton, California. She loved attending Love and Unity Christian Fellowship Church and truly loved the Pastor and his wife, Apostle Ronald C. and Ossie Hill.

Gladis was preceded in death by her Parents: Alice Osie-Dean and Albert Reese, Sr., and brothers, Edward Reese, Harvey Reese, Donald Reese and Osie Reese.
Gladis leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Cassandra Moultrie Robinson, Isaac (Thereasa) Moultrie, Anthony (Tracy) Moultrie; Fourteen Grandchildren Brandi Renee Robinson, Bruce Robinson II, Iamunique Moultrie, Aysha Moultrie, Tiera Moultrie, Isaiah S. Moultrie, Isaac J. Moultrie, Autumn Moultrie, Kyle Moultrie, Arianna Moultrie, Amani Moultrie, Anthony Joshua Moultrie, Anthony Jordan Moultrie, and Anthony Jayden Moultrie; Five Great Grandchildren, Dior Williams, Brooklyn Robinson, Bruce Robinson III, Nikye and Jeremiah Moultrie. Also, Lisa Moultrie and Thereasa Cooper, who were like daughters, and a host of other family and friends.
Gladis has brothers and sisters: Reverend Albert (Annell) Reese, Jr., Eucebius (Pastor William) Carey, Kenny (Sylvia) Reese, Carolyn (Deacon Eddie) Harris, Shedrone (Oretha) Reese all of Mobile, Alabama and Eric (Robin) Reese of Fort Worth, Texas. Sisters-in-Laws Jennie Reese and Paulette Reese, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and devoted friends.
