Gertrude Jones, was born July 17, 1944 in Greensboro, Alabama. She departed this life on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Jones and her father, Camel Jones, Sr.

She was loved by family and friends. She was a very active resident in her community of Emerson Garden. She loved to shop, dress and enjoying spending time with her family and friends. She was a true Alabama Girl all her life. Gertrude will be greatly missed by all.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two children: George Jones and Laura Jones Miller of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren: Zaccheous E. Jones, Zurich G. Jones, Reginald K. Miller, Jr. and Ronald M. Miller; two sisters: Amy Brown of Mobile, AL and Mollie Norfleet of Uniontown, AL; one brother, Moses Jones of Newbern, AL; a host of nieces, two devoted: Annie May Ward and Shirley Hardison; nephews and relatives. She will truly be missed by her neighbors and friends from Down the Bay and Texas Hill and by the devoted Howell family; as well as a host of family and friends, two devoted: Minnie Dubose and Vivian Wheaton.

Her remains will lie in state on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 5-8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour in Small’s Mortuary Chapel, 950 South Broad Street, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery, Eight Mile, AL.
