Obituary for Altherias L. Tate

Altherias L.  Tate
Altherias L. Tate was born on to Elouise and Milton Young on June 22, 1951 in Mobile, Alabama. She was affectionately known as Theri. Theri exchanged this life for her eternal rest on Sunday, September 17, 2017.

Theri was a graduate of John Shaw High School in 1969. She later married Archie Tate aka Musheer Rasheed in the year of 1970 and shortly after moved to Los Angeles, California. Theri and Musheer shared three children, Donna, Deon, and Bryan. Theri attended college in Hawthorne, California and obtained and Associates Degree in cosmetology. She began her career with the City of Inglewood through the Ceda Program as a typist clerk in 1980 and later retired as a Human Resources Manager in 2007. After retirement she moved back to Mobile, Alabama in May 2007.

She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Young, Sr. and her brother, Bilal Shabazz.

She is survived by her mother, Elouise Young, stepfather, James Biggs; children: Donna Young, Bryan Rasheed, and Deon (Jennifer) Rasheed; six brothers, Abdul Haqq, Ronald Young, James (Sheila) Young, Sylvester (Pam) Shakir, Gerald Biggs, and Gregory (Anja) Shakir; one sister, Sylvia (Eugene) Pritchard; five grandchildren, Kylah Rasheed, Ahmad Gray, Kornelius Pettway, Kimble Pettway, and Dominque Crosby; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Frends may sign registry book from 1-8pm on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Small's Mortuary, Mobile, Alabama.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Gethsemane Cemetery, 800 Mobile Street, Mobile, Alabama
