Obituary for Fred Ball Jr.

Fred Ball Jr.
Fred “Pat” Ball, Jr was born December 5, 1950 to Fred Ball, Sr. and Martina Holder Ball. He transitioned from this life to eternal life on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the home of his caregiver/sister.

He was a member of the Church Of God Pentecostal (MLK) under the leadership of Bishop Tommie Williams.

He was a 1968 graduate of Lillie B. Williamson High School. He served in the United States Army as a food service specialist from 1968 retiring in 1988. He also worked at Mobile Area Water and Sewer System in the warehouse where he created many memorable moments between he and his coworkers. Fred enjoyed spending time listening to the blues, old school R & B, his many “friends”, reminiscing about his life in the military, his days growing up in Hillsdale and the Maysville Community.

Fred was predeceased by his parents, Fred Ball, Sr. and Martina Ligon, and his one and only beloved daughter Stacey Virginia Ball-Barker who he loved dearly.

He leaves to forever cherish his memories one son: Fred (Eudora) Ball, III; five grandchildren: Joslin Barker, Andrew Barker, Joshua Barker, Fred Ball, IV, and Sakina Ball; two sisters: Diana Harper, and Dottie Willis; two aunts: Lucille Miller and Regina Richardson; one uncle: George Ball, Sr.; two nephews: Charles (Monica) Ball, Sr., Sean Harper; one niece: Jessica Willis; devoted cousin and best friend: Martha Mathis. Fred had numerous special friends and family members. The family would like to thank Emma Davis for her kindness and dedication while Fred was under the care of his sister, Dottie Willis. In addition, the family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice for exceptional and loving service.

Fred Ball, Jr. was a one of a kind character leaving everyone that he met with various memorable moments. He was full of zeal but also love for his family. He always had something comical to say but he was most certainly a man about his business. During his latest time of sickness, his sister Dottie Willis brought her brother home to care for him and even in his final hour we know that Fred was at peace knowing that he was where he was loved and cared for. He will most certainly be missed but he is now healed of all sickness rejoicing with the Lord in Heaven with his loving mother and his beloved daughter, Stacey, both whom he missed dearly.

His remains will lie in state on Monday, September 25, 2017, from 1-8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile, Alabama.
