Obituary for Arthur Leroy Davis Jr.
Arthur Leroy Davis, Jr., a lifelong resident of Creola, AL
departed this life on Friday, December 1, 2017 at a local hospital.
He was born to the union of the late Arthur and Anita Davis, Sr.
He attended Mobile County Training School.
Arthur confessed Christ and joined the Starlight Baptist Church
and served on the Nurses Aid Board. He was united in holy
matrimony to the late Juanita Pierce. Three children were born to
this union: Delroy, Michael and Autherine Davis. He enjoyed
barbecuing for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Anita Davis,
Sr.; sisters: Hannah Pearl Bluitt, Beatrice Boasten, Annie Mae
Bowman, Mattie Bush; brother, Johnnie Lee Davis and son,
Robert Rogers.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons: Delroy Davis of Bay
Minette, AL and Michael (Sherry) Davis of Creola, AL;
daughters: Autherine Davis Rhoden of Atlanta, GA; a host of
grandchildren: Arthur Rogers and Robert Rogers, Jr.; five
devoted: Chandra and Carla Rhoden, Mary Morris, Syreeta and
Antoine Davis; great-grandchildren; nieces, a devoted niece,
Marilyn Bluitt, Gardner of Arlington, TX; nephews, cousins, one
devoted, Ruth Walker of Creola, AL; other relatives and friends.
His remains will lie in state 1-8pm Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Starlight Baptist Church, Satsuma, AL. Interment will follow in the Jackson Cemetery, Creola, AL.
