Obituary for Marzine Thames Sr.

Marzine Thames Sr., affectionately called (Poppy), the son of the late Luther Thames Sr. and Willie Mae Thames was born on June 22, 1939 in Decatur, Mississippi.
Marzine was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a dedicated member of St. Peter Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama.

Although he suffered with debilitating illnesses the later part of his adult life, he was a strong willed man and a fighter. He never let nothing stop him for doing whatever it is he wanted to do. Marzine loved life and his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He adored his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Marzine retired from Ingalls Shipyard and Kessler Air Force Base. He enjoyed attending church and singing in the choir along with hunting, gardening, cooking, dancing and being with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Willie Mae Thames, his children Brian Keith Morrissette, Ronald Thames, Marzine Thames Jr. and Marquitha Thames and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his devoted wife of over 49 years Patricia Morrissette Thames, loving children, Monica Lisa Thames, Dallas, TX, Marzetta (Lanier)Delmore, Angelique Dionne) Thames, Mobile, AL and Narquita (Tobey)Ross Beverly, Gulf Port, MS., and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memories three brothers John Ervin Thames, Walter Lee Thames, and Bertis (Debra) Thames all of Mobile, AL. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws.
