Obituary for Stonewall "Stoney" Heard

Stonewall "Stoney"  Heard
Stonewell Heard, also affectionately known as "Stoney" was born on December 21, 1936 in Lanette, AL to the union of Mr. Joe Heard and Mrs. Ruth Heard. He departed this life for his eternal home on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in Columbus, GA.

Stoney was preceded in death by his daughter, Joanna Heard; parents, Mr. Joe Heard and Mrs. Ruth Heard; siblings: Tommy L. Heard, Lewis Heard, Minnie
Strickland, Gaynell Brock and Wilomena Foster.

Stoney was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army where he retired as a Staff Sergeant. He also served in the Vietnam War as a Combat Field Medic. Stoney enjoyed family time, golf, bowling and playing cards - to include putting the “P” in Pinochle and “Oh” let ’s not forget how he loved the “Races”!!

Stoney leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Jennifer (Ralph) Howze; four grandchildren: Korenshia Howze, Ravon and Reginald Howze all of Birmingham, AL and Demetrius Kirksey, Jr. of Mobile, AL; three siblings: Willie Joe (Zelma) Heard, Mattie (John E.) Brown both of Chicago, IL and Doris Harris of Corona,CA; step -daughter, Ursela “CeCe” Smith of Mobile, AL; a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; also who have memories of Stoney, Jessika who have memories of Stoney, Jessika Heard of Mobile, Al; a very special thank you to his best friend and “Road Dog ”, Mr. James Garnett words can not express how much we appreciate you for always looking out for Stoney.

He will lie in state 5-8pm Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 9:30am until the 11:30am funeral hour at Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 1050 Duval Street, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in the Alabama State Veteran’s Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL.
