Bennie  Rembert
Bennie Rembert was born to on September 13, 1928 in Myrtlewood, Alabama. He was the first of eight children through the union of the late George Rembert and Icie Rogers. He moved to Mobile, Alabama at an early age and later married Mary Dunning Rembert. They united with Green Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his health began to fail. Bennie loved hunting, fishing, farming and most of all good conversations.

He departed this life on Sunday, May 6, 2018, peacefully. Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Icie Rembert; his devoted wife of sixty two years, Mary Rembert; two daughters, Betty Rembert Jackson and Willie Williams; one son, Donald Grimes; four sisters, Ella Mae Rembert, Mary Alice Brazile, Issie Rembert Chapman and Annie Mae Little; two brothers, John Kelly Rembert and George Rembert Jr. and godson, Calvin Adams.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his three daughters: Lucille Rembert, Livia Clemons and Sabrina (Anthony) Davis; four sons: Joe Bennie (Ethel) Rembert, Bennie Grimes, Cleophus (Dessie) Grimes and Michael (Janet) Grimes; 25 grandchildren: Johnnie (Lokinda) Rembert, Mary Logan, Lawrence (Jeane) Gully, Amilia (Draper) Pritchett), Michelle (Erick) Durgan, Derrick Rembert Jr., Joi Rembert, Kaillya (Nicholas) Lavalias, Mark Williams, Damon Williams, Terrance Williams, Derik Williams, Sebastian Grimes, Kendall Grimes, Jamisha Grimes, MeKayle Grimes, Cleshonda Grimes, Lavitta Gabla, Anja Grimes Kyser, Michael Grimes Jr., Tymaiya Grimes, Dontea Grimes, Dominique Grimes, Anthony Grimes Jr. and Lutee Southall; 42 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; devoted godson Rudolph Hale III; devoted friend, W.L. Adams and devoted neighbor and friend, Rosa N. Harris

His remains will lie in state on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5- 8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 11am until the 1pm funeral hour at Green Grove MB Church, 1807 Reddy Street- Prichard, AL. Interment will follow in Gethsemane North Cemetery-Eight Mile, AL.
