Obituary for James Young Jr.

James  Young Jr.
James Young, Jr., a resident of Semmes, AL, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2018 at home surrounding by love ones. He was born and raise in Mobile, AL. He graduated in 1962 from Central High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and served actively for two years. During his Army career, he fought in the Vietnam War. After completeing his tour of duty, he returned home and was employed by the Alabama Ship Yard for twenty years until it closed.

He continued working and was employed by the Mobile County Public School System for eight years until he retired. He was a member of the Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church. He restored his faith on April 9, 2018.
James was a loving and devoting husband, father, and brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James Young, Sr. and Eva Mae Amerson Young; one sister, Loretta Young Powe; and one brother, Arthur Young.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Gloria Crews Young; devoted daughter, Keishunda Young; two devoted sisters, Cynthia (James) Henley of Dayton, Ohio and Gloria Kidd of Indianapolis; one brother, Freddie Young of Mobile, AL; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Young of Mobile, AL and Rexine Crews of Mobile, AL; three brothers-in-law, Ricky Crews of Baltimore and Williams (Brooke) James of Milwaukee; devoted nephews, Terry Powe and Reginald Crews; three special friends, Terry Martin, Linda Davis and Billy Williams; countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His passing leaves a hole in the hearts of his family. His knowledge and sense of humor are irreplaceable.

His remains will lie in state 1-8pm Friday, May 18, 2018 at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Greater Union MB Church, 961 Lyon Street, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in the Gethsemane Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
