Hiram Bruce Woodyard was born January 12, 1949 to the union of Frank Woodyard and Mazzarean Colvin Woodyard. He departed this earthly life suddenly on May 15, 2018. He was preceded in death by his Father, Frank Woodyard, his Mother, Mazzarean Colvin Griffin, his Son, Dwayne Woodyard and his brother, Keith Griffin.

Bruce professed Christ at a early age as a member of Corinthian Baptist Church. Bruce later joined St. Louis Street Baptist Church and most recently was a loyal member of Mt. Hebron Ministries.

He was a graduate of the Trinity Gardens High School class of 1967 and a 1980 graduate of Alabama State University with a BS in Chemistry. Bruce also completed coursework in Physics at Howard University.

Bruce was a member of the The United States Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserves. Bruce was a dedicated employee of Alabama Power Company for 31 years. Bruce was also a dedicated member of the Strikers Club and Lyons Park Tennis Association.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 45 years, Emley Reeves Woodyard. He is also survived by 4 sons, Rodney (Karin) Howard , Donye (Keysher) Woodyard , Darrius Woodyard and Duston Woodyard. He is also survived by 6 siblings, Juanda (Leroy) Maxwell, Frank Anthony (Cynthia) Woodyard, Lula (Darrell) Coleman, Carl Wayne Woodyard, Elaine Woodyard, Gloria (Larry)York, one dedicated Sister in Law, Fannie Griffin and one dedicated Brother in Law, Oliver Reeves Jr.

Bruce is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Artresia Woodyard, Joshua Howard, Keyshawn Woodyard and Jeremy Howard and one Great Grandchild, Jace Woodyard.

Also mourning his loss are cousins Douglas (Shirley) Crawley, Glenda (Hollis) Wall, Irving Vincent (Rhonda) Fields, Lynwood Milton, Eric (Barbara) Milton, Curtis Milton, Valeda Bouyer and one dedicated cousin, Yolanda “Angie” Fields.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Mt. Hebron Church Ministries, 2531 Berkley Avenue, Mobile, Alabama. Interment will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 1:30pm in the Alabama State Veteran’s Cemetery, Spanish Fort, Alabama.
