Obituary for Augustine Quivers

Augustine Quivers
Augustine Quivers, a native of Mobile, Alabama was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. She was number seven of nine girls born July 22, 1942 to the wonderful parentage of Stephen and Elizabeth Quivers. Her twin, Ernestine, took her wings to heaven more than two years ago.

Augustine has always had a love for Christ and music. She accepted Christ at an early age at the Historical Stone Street Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sunday School, and the Gospel Choir for many years. In the community, she sang in the Sunlight District Mass and Mobile County Mass Choirs.
She graduated from Cedar Grove Academy under the leadership of Dr. Arthur A. Tunstall and attended Carver State Technical School in the area of Business.

She was a retiree from both Mobile Infirmary and University of South Alabama Women’s & Children Hospitals. She was loved by her co-workers because of her personality. She exhumed friendliness and was a joy to be around. After retirement, Augustine enjoyed attending the Sullivan Community Senior Program, and did so until her health failed her. She loved to dance and was very good at it. In her later years, though she walked with a cane, she was like a “twenty-one year old” when her favorite songs came on! She was known by many co-workers as “Too Short” because of her small stature.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen & Elizabeth Quivers; her sisters: Thomasine Q. Woodson, Sadie Q. Davis, Katherine Q. Siggers, Rose Marie Q. Craige and Ernestine Q. Overstreet (her twin).

She he survived by her devoted daughter, Ingram Faye Quivers; three sisters: Yvonne Q. Powell, Mary Q. Stevenson and Frenzetta Quivers; one brother-in-law, Reverend Rudolph Overstreet; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Her remains will lie in state on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 1-8 pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 9-11am funeral hour at Stone St. MB Church, 301 Tunstall St., Mobile. The family will recieve friends from 10:30am until 11am
