A resident of Fairhope, AL. Mrs. Octavia “Bunchie” Dread was born September 16, 1949 to the late Earl Baker and Ruth Bush Baker. Her mom died while she was a little girl. She was raised by two loving and devoted aunts: the late Ada Bush Baker and the late Emily Baker Clemons. She departed this life for eternity at a local hospital on the morning of May 18, 2018.

She was a graduate of the Baldwin County Training School. She dedicated over 25 years to nursing home care. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt sister and friend to everyone she came in contact with.

Accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age. She was a devoted member of New Era Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Perine; two cousins, one she loved like a sister, Isabell Dennis; and one like a brother, Louis Agee Sr.

Octavia leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband, Clarence Dread of Fairhope, AL; one daughter Rosilyn Stanton-Mathis of Austin, TX; three sons, Patrick (Lucinda)Stanton of Austin, TX, Reginald (Lasonya)Stanton of Foley, AL, and Christopher Dread of Fairhope, AL; two brothers, Johnnie Chaney of Fairhope, AL and Thomas(Brenda) Bush of West Memphis, AR; six cousins she loved like brothers, Michael Baker, Rudolph(Kathleen) Baker Jr., Morris Dennis, Norris Dennis, Frank Clemons Jr. and Clifford (Charlene) Clemons; six cousins she loved like sisters, Josephine Hobbs, Virgie Smith, Shirley Baker, Linda Snowden, Nancy Smith and Lorraine Jones; one uncle, Frank Clemons, Sr.; ten brothers and sisters-in-law, Benjamin (Doreen) Dread, Claude Dread, Charlie Dread, Sylvester (Agnes) Dread, Johnny Dread, Arthur (Janice) Dread, Betty Armstrong, Mary Session and Dorothy Gordon; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three godsons, Adien, Adrien and Andres; a host of nieces ,nephews, cousins, and friends; one special group, “The Birthday Girls”, Voncil Smith, Hazel Smith, Barbara Agee, Lorraine Jones, Shirley Baker and Linda Snowden.

Her remains will lie in state on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Small’s Mortuary, 8822 County Road 64 Daphne, AL.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour at New Era Missionary Baptist Church, 510 New Era Road, Fairhope, AL. Interment will follow in Twin Beech Cemetery, Fairhope, AL.
