Obituary for Elijah Thomas Harris III

Elijah Thomas Harris, III was born August 10, 1952 in Mobile,
Alabama to the Late Elijah and Alice Harris. He was a native of and a
resident of Mobile, Alabama. He exchanges life for eternity on
Thursday, May 17, 2018 in the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center.
Thomas confessed Christ at an early age at St. Mary A.M.E Church in
Greensboro, Alabama. Later years he joined Stewart Memorial C.M.E.
Church.

Thomas was a graduate of the Central High School in 1970 and spent his
early years at the Roger Williams Community Center honoring his
Basketball skills and Counseling Youth. After high school he attended
Bishop State Community College. Thomas was drafted into the United
States Armed Forces. After attending the United States Navy Basic
Training he set out to see the world.

He settled in Jacksonvillle, FL, married and a son was born. Family was
always important to Thomas. In the later 1990’s he returned home to
Mobile, AL. Thomas was always the go to person for any family member
that needed help or assistance. Over his lifetime he worked in
various government and civilian jobs before medically retiring.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elise Elizabeth Harris; father,
Elijah Harris, Jr.; and sister, Brenda Arlene Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memories, with love and devotions, one son,
Kenneth Bernard Harris of Mobile, AL; mother, Alice Harris of Prichard,
AL; fianceé, Clara Peppers Bradford of Mobile, AL and her daughter,
Joay Bradford of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters: Gladys (Chris) Penton of
Memphis, TN, Angela Richardson and Sandra Keith both of Mobile, AL;
three devoted brothers: Michael (Bernadette) Harris, Cedrick (Lorraine)
Harris and Charles (Shelia) Harris all of Mobile, AL; four aunts: Bertha
Bates, Mary Harris of Tuscaloosa, AL, Lucille (Alford) Duncan of
Columbus, OH and Daisy Alexander of Mobile, AL; two uncles: Ira
Burks, Sr. of Prichard, AL and Reverend Richard A. Ditaway, Jr. of Fort
Wayne, IN; five grandchildren: Kenneth Harris, Terrance Marion,
Kendarious Harris, Elise Harris and Kenya Harris all of Mobile, AL; a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; devoted,
Courtney Harris; Special friends: Courtney Harris and Charles Porter
both of Mobile, AL.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 10am until the 12noon funeral hour at Stewart Memorial CME Church, 1266 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Mobile, Alabama. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama.
