Obituary for Alice L. Mason

Missionary Alice Louise Mason was born December 6, 1938, in Bay Minette, Alabama to the late Frank and Laura Mason. She departed this life on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at North Baldwin Infirmary surrounded by loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by six siblings, Manerval Brown, Sarah Robinson, Allen Mason, Sr., Fred Mason, Savannah Tunstall, and Charles Mason, and one daughter, Barbara Ann Mason.

She received Christ over 50 years ago at New Jerusalem Holiness Church in Wewahitchja, Florida under the leadership of Reverend Joe Smith. In 1967, she relocated to Bay Minette, Alabama where she served at McGhee Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder A.T. McGhee. For over 30 years, Missionary Mason served in many capacities in the church including District Missionary, Sunday School teacher, Y.P.W.W. youth teacher, member of the missionary circle, and a faithful member of the church choir. Later she joined Showers of Blessings Church of God in Christ in Mobile, Alabama under the leadership of Prophet Charles Buchanan where she continued building her faith in God and was the recipient of many blessings and miracles from the faith teachings. She later moved her membership back to McGhee Temple Church of God in Christ when her health began to deteriorate.

Missionary Mason was a woman of faith and was considered the heartbeat of the Mason family. She conveyed the message of Christ to all that she came in contact. Missionary Mason loved singing, praying, and telling everyone she encountered about the goodness of the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Elbert (Marla) Knight, Sr., Bay Minette, AL, Geneva (Lepolian) Bradford, Bay Minette, AL, Janice (Alfred) Watson, Bay Minette, AL; Alice Van Dortch, Bay Minette, AL, Tina Van, Mobile, AL, Anthony (Felicia) Lambert, Bay Minette, AL, and Marian (Willie) Law, Loxley, AL; twenty grandchildren, Elbert Jr., Winifred, Eddie, Marlon, Demetrius, Tomeckia, Mike Brandon, Elbert III, Ashton, Jamie, Christopher, Tiana, Shemekia, Cornelius, Saporia, Juwan, Tony, David and Quadarius; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two beloved sisters, Martha Nash, Mobile, AL and Lucy Graves, Bay Minette, AL; two loving brothers, Archie (Linda) Mason, Arlington, TX and Frank Mason Jr., New Jersey; and other family members, special caregivers and many dear friends. The visitation for Missionary Mason will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour at the McGhee Memorial Temple, 500 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
