Obituary for Annie Caffey Durgins

Annie Ruth Caffey Durgins was born on October 7, 1933 in Pollard and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL. She exchanged this life for eternity, Saturday, July 19, 2008 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Ruth Caffey; two children, Nettie Williams and Bryan Wiggins; and great granddaughter Orrionna Rhodes. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, a loving and devoted husband Thomas Durgins; five daughters Alfrida Williams, Penelope Fincher, Yvette, Carmaleta and Mavis Durgins; nine sons Vernon, Alphonse (Beverly), Elijah, Sidney, Joseph Williams, Angelo Wiggins, Rufus, John, and Vincent Durgins; two sisters Deotha Caffey and Mary Darrington; eight brothers Ernest (Anna), Arthur (Betty), Buria (Evelyn), Thomas (Rose), Jessie (Dana) of Union Dale, NY, Raymond (Delores) Alexander City, AL, Carey (Geneva) Caffey, and Joseph McDuffie; three aunts Elizabeth Gant, Lucille Lewis, and Estelle Thomas; one uncle Arthur Bryant; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; special friends, the Menton family; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in state at Smalls Mortuary on Friday July 25, 2008 from 1pm-8pm and Saturday July 26, 2008 after 9:00am until the 11:00am funeral at the Lilly Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Gethsemane Cemetery. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Small's Mortuary 950 South Broad Street Mobile, AL 36603.
