Obituary for Barbara King

Barbara Ann King was born September 7 1960 in Atmore, Al. to the parents of J.C. and Georgia Lawson. Mrs. King departed this life June 11, 2009 .Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband Master Sergeant James Curtis King, her father J.C. Lawson Sr., her mother Georgia Lawson, and her two sisters Minnie and Lillian Lawson. On May 31, 1986 she was united in Holy Matrimony to James Curtis King. They were blessed with three sons. Mrs. King is survived by her three children, Minister Mark (Valerie) King of Little Rock Arkansas, Reginald and Nicholas of Mobile, Alabama. Mrs. King was a member of the Mt Calvary Primitive Baptist Church where she wore a number of hats. She worked with the Jr. Ushers and was on the Sr. Usher Board. Mrs. Kings was also on the Kitchen Staff where she had the name of "Flap" in the trio of "Flip", "Flop" and "Flap". Mrs. King leaves to Cherish her memory four devoted brothers: Ben Lawson, J.C. (Mary) Lawson Jr,. Willie (Bernadette) Lawson, Louis (Aundra) Lawson, two devoted sisters Brunetta (Travis) Warren and Maryam (Mohammad) Salam, Three brothers-in-law Ernest (Shirley) Bradley of Jackson, Mississippi, Larry King, and Willie (Mary) King of Enterprise, Mississippi, and two sisters-in-law Sabina Bradley of Racine Wisconsin and Mary (JC) Lawson of Victorville California, one grandson, Elijah Anthony King. Mrs. King was blessed with, three devoted friends Mattie Carmicheal, Mary Hatcher, and "Honey". An inspirational uncle "Pappa Evans" Washington and Aunt Rose Washington along with other devoted aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews. Her remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary Friday, June 19, 2009 from 1-8pm and Saturday, June 20, 2009 after 10am until the 11am funeral hour Mt. Calvary Primitive Baptist Church, Rev. William J. Carmichael, Pastor and officiating Minister. Interment will follow in the Whispering Pines Cemetery. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Smalls Mortuary 950 Broad St. Mobile, AL.
