Obituary for Bobbie Jean Adams

Bobbie Jean  Adams
Mrs. Bobbie Adams, a native of Laurel, Mississippi, and longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama, was called home to rest from her labor on June 24, 2018.

Known affectionately as “Molly,” she was born to the union of the late O.D. Adams and Vadis Adams Cole on January 29, 1936. She was the oldest of 14 brothers and sisters.

A graduate of Central High School Class of 1955, she earned a degree in Elementary Education from Alabama State University. For more than 30 years, Mrs. Adams taught in the Mobile County Public School System; she also later taught at St. James Catholic School and cared for children at her home day care center.

Mrs. Adams was a faithful member of Toulminville Warren United Methodist Church, where she served in numerous capacities at the church, including working at the church’s child day care center.

She was a charter member of the Nu Zeta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; and was also a member of Juliette Chapter #613 Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie D. Adams; parents; three sisters, Rosetta, Joyce and Nancy; and two brothers, O.D. and Timothy; and sister-in-law, Ann Adams.

She leaves to cherish loving memories, two daughters, Edra Adams and Lanni (Robert) Jones, both of Texas; one son, James Adams of Mobile, Alabama; other children Jimmie McMillion and Shirley Weaver; four grandchildren, Javia Adams, Ja’Kaylee Adams, James Adams, Jr., and Haileigh Raine Jones; three brothers, Earl Cole, William (Betsy) Cole and Joseph Cole, all of Mobile, AL; three sisters, Florence (A.C.) Douglas, Mary Wilson and Diane (Lester) Dale, all of Mobile, AL; brothers-in-law Joe Martin and Jesse Love; sisters-in-law Lydia Cole and Mary Weatherspoon; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Toulminville Warren UM Church, 2271 St. Stephens Road, Mobile, AL.

Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama.
