Obituary for Carolyn Laffite Witherspoon

Sister Carolyn Davis Laffitte Witherspoon-- a native of Mobile and resident of Prichard born March 28, 1945 to the late Sam Sr. and Mary Henderson departed this life for eternal rest Thursday, May 28, 2009 at local hospital. She confessed Christ at an early age and united with Emmanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church under the leadership of Pastor Benjamin Jones. She was preceded indeath by her parents and brother, Sam Henderson, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories husband, W.C. Witherspoon, a loving and devoted daughter, Shana Donyale Laffitte(Willie) Dates, a loving son, Cedric LaBarron(Shelia) Davis, six sisters, Mrs. Joan Coker, Mrs. Bettie(Levon) Thornton, Ms. Mary Helen Davis, Mrs. Janice(Kenneth) Hicks, Mrs. Ethel(John) Reed, Mrs. Sharon(Roosevelt) Ankum, three brothers, Mr. James and Mr. Nathaniel Davis and Mr. Larry Byrd, eight grandchildren, three devoted, Marilen, London and Cache', all of Mobile, three great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, god children, one devoted, Yvette Turner, devoted adopted daughter, Pearl Danielle Portis, other relatives and friends, four devoted, Mr. Fred and Mrs. Frances Torrance, Mattie Lawrence and Margie Henry. Special thanks to Dr. Hecker and the critical Care Unit Staff at Mobile Infirmary. Her remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary Friday, June 5, 2009 from 1-8pm and Saturday, June 6, 2009 after 12noon until the 2pm funeral, Emmanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2000 MLK Jr. Ave. Interment will follow in the Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 S. Broad St., Mobile, AL.
