Obituary for Charlie Scott Carter

Charles “Candy” Scott Carter was born October 27, 1935 in Faunsdale, AL. He was the seventh of ten children born to the union of Sherman, Sr. and Ophelia Carter. He confessed Christ at an early age at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Faunsdale, AL. He later moved to Mobile, AL and became a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was employed with O’Neal Steel for seventeen years before he retired. He leaves to cherish memories a wife of 58 years, Gracie Mae Hill Carter; one son, George (Jo Audrey) Carter of Whistler, AL; two daughters, Cynthia (Willie) Coleman of Eight Mile, AL and Felicia Carter of Whistler, AL; three grandchildren, Charles (Stacey) Darnell and Chelsea; two sisters, Julia Turner and Louise Martin of Faunsdale, AL; one aunt, Clara Wiggins; one uncle, Jimmy Hill; two brothers-in-law, Eddie (Gwendolyn) Hill, Jr. and Alphonse (Deloise) Hill, Sr.; a devoted sister-in-law, Evelyn Chapman of Miami, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, one special, Bennie Carter, other relatives and friends. His remains will lie in state on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 1pm until 8pm at Small's Mortuary, Mobile, AL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church 819 St. Stephens Rd. Prichard, AL.
