Obituary for Charlotte Powe

Charlotte Ann Powe - was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. At an early age she united with the St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church of Prichard, AL and late, united with the Liberty Baptist Church of Mobile. She was a 1975 graduate of Toulminville High School, a graduate of Floridan A&M University the University of South Alabama. Charlotte was a longtime educator at Bishop State Community College, University of South Alabama and Virginia College of Mobile. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, INC and Eunice Chapter 142 Order of Eastern Star and Reese and Dunklin Court #38 Order of Cyrene Crusaders. Charlotte departed this earthly life on Friday, December 18, 2009 at a local hospital. She was the twelfth child of thirteen children born to the union of the late Mr. Leo and Mrs. Nuties Powe on November 8, 1956. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Mary Ann Powe Little, Shirley Powe Sneed, and a brother Leo Powe, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories one devoted daughter Kheushla Powe; three devoted sisters, Ruby (Rev. Tommie) Lawhorn, Gladys (Oscar) Morgan both of Mobile, and Nettie Brewster of Birmingham; six brothers, Ollie (Carolyn) Powe, Roy (Barbara) Powe of Chicago, IL, Johnny (Yvonne) Powe of Cape Coral, FL, Wilfred Powe of Mobile, Minister Wayne (Minister Linda) Powe of Montgomery, AL and Derrick (Cynthia) Powe of Mobile; one sister in law Annie Pearl Powe; one brother in law Morris Sneed; one Goddaughter Madison McCaskey; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, devoted John Lovelace, Mildred McCaskey, and Dorothy Reed. Visitation will be held at Small's Mortuary Tuesday December 22, 2009 from 1 PM til 8 PM and Wednesday December 23, 2009 from 9 AM until the 11:00 funeral hour at The Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile, AL Interment to follow in Gethsemane Cemetery 800 Mobile Street Mobile, AL, Dignified and Professional Service entrusted to Small's Mortuary 950 S. Broad Street Mobile, AL.
