Obituary for Cleveland McGrew (Rev. C. L.)

Cleveland Lewis McGrew (Rev. C.L.) was a native of Silas (Shady Grove), AL and a resident of Mobile, AL. He was born to the union of Alonzo McGrew and Gladys Washam McGrew on November 4, 1932. He departed this life on Friday, December 25, 2009. He was a retired employee of Gill Printing (Enterstate II). He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Alonzo McGrew and brothers Lonnie, Earl, and Henry and sister-Earline. He is survived by daughter-Claudnette McGrew and sons Dennis (Valeria) McGrew and Demetrius Owens all of Mobile. Also left to cherish his memory are three sisters: Freddie Mae (Eugene) Austin of Mobile, AL, Minnie Lou Mitchell of Shreveport, LA , and Irean (Albert) Kilgore of Las Vegas, NV; four brothers: James (Annie Earl) McGrew , Cleo (Joyce) McGrew both of Silas, AL and Vert (Louise) McGrew and Clyde (Lillie) McGrew of Mobile, AL. Grandchildren: Connor Elizabeth McGrew, Austin Louise McGrew -Haynes and Dennis Mitchell McGrew all of Mobile, AL. A special friend Gussie Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, December 30, 2009 after 9:00 a.m. at the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Silas, AL. until the 12:00 p.m. funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 S. Broad Street, Mobile, AL. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Nina Nicks Child Day Care Association Scholarship Fund.
