Obituary for Corine Caves

Corine S. Caves, a native of Alberta, Alabama and 48th year resident of Mobile, Alabama, departed her life on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at her home. She was 76 years old. She was a retiree of the Mobile County Public School System. She was a faithful member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mission Team, Sunday School, and Pastor Aide Board. Mrs. Caves is preceded in death by her mother and father, Johnny and Carrie Thomas; three brothers, Johnny, Jr., Willie L., and Jake Thomas; two sisters, Bertha Perry and Irene Jones; granddaughter, LaKeysia Spencer; and two great-grandsons, Demetrius and DeJuan Spencer. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband, Osie L. Caves of 43 years; four sons, Johnnie (Esther) Spencer of Mobile; Harris (Gail) Spencer of Birmingham, Joseph (Millie) Spencer, Osie (Mary Ann) Spencer, of Mobile; five daughters, Annie S. Carson of Birmingham, AL, Mary Buford French of Mobile, Deborah Sobers of Birmingham, AL, Cynthia (Ray) Kilpatrick and Carolyn (Bruce) Miller, both of Mobile, AL; two step-sons, Charles Caves and Cornelius (Angela) Owes of Mobile; two step-daughters, Rena Mae Caves and Patricia Smith of Mobile; two brothers, James (Pat) Thomas of Crestview, FL, L.C. Thomas of Decatur, AL; three sisters, Annie Taylor of Gulfport, MS, Hattie L. Pope, San Francisco, CA, Dester L. Chapman, Bessemer, AL; one brother-in-law, Richard (Catherine) Jackson of Jackson, AL; three sister-in-laws, Perrie L. Martin and Martha Williams of Jackson, Bennie J. Reeds of Coffee Code, TX; twenty-two (22) grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Odyssey Vistacare Hospice for the care, and a job well done. Visitation will be held at the New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1119 Lyons Street, Mobile, AL on Friday, September 18, 2009 from 5pm - 8pm and after 9:00 a.m. at the Aimwell Baptist Church 500 Earl St. Mobile, AL on Saturday, September 19, 2009 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour. Interment will follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery, Eight Mile, AL. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 Broad Street, Mobile, AL 36603.
