Obituary for Darrell Wayne Powell

Darrell Wayne Powell, Sr. a native of Saraland, AL and a 1979 graduate of Satsuma High School passed away on October 07, 2015 at the age of 54. Shortly after graduating high school, he joined the U. S. Army and was a member of the Special Forces Unit. During his tours of duty he served in the Gulf /Desert Wars and was stationed at various bases in the United States and Europe. He received many accommodations including the following: NCO DP, Good Conduct Medals, Army Commendation Medal, and Southeast Asia Bronze Service Star.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Powell Langster, two brothers, Jimmie Powell, Sr. and Edward Powell, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories two loving children, Darrell W. Powell, Jr. and Shanice Powell of Stuttgart, Germany; one devoted brother, Clausell Powell; two sisters, Jacqueline P. Rankin and Pamela P. Gonzalez; a host of nieces, one devoted, Jazsmin Rankin Sherrod, Twentynine Palms, CA, nephews, other relatives and many devoted friends.

His remains will lie in state on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 1pm until 8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile, AL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 9am until 11am funeral hour at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in Bailey Cemetery, Saraland, AL.
