Obituary for David Powe Sr.

Mr. David Lewis Powe, Sr., a native of Buccama Turner, Alabama and a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, departed this life on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at his home. He worked as a longshoreman for 43 years. He was known to many as "Buddy." David was born November 11, 1930 to the union of Marion and Olivia Powe. He was a faithful member of Lily Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board. He was preceded in death by both parents, Marion and Olivia Powe, son, James E. Powe, brothers, James T. Powe, Jessie Powe and sister Josephine Powe, ex-wife, Mamie Powe. He leaves to cherish his memories a wife, Ann Powe, two sons, David (Brenda) L. Powe Jr. and Lamar Powe. Three daughters, Stephanie (William) Glover , Jacqueline (Robert ) Dailey and Davida (Roy) Nobles all of Mobile, Alabama. Two brothers, Martin (Ethel) Powe of Los Angeles, California and Michael (Sharon) Powe of Houston, Texas. Four sisters, Dessie Jenkins Corrine Williams of Chicago, Illinois, Dorothy Williams of New York, Marilyn Powe of Houston, Texas. Fifteen grandchildren, one devoted granddaughter Sykisa Powe, fourteen great grandchildren, four step-children, a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Lily Missionary Baptist Church until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama. Dignified and professionals services entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 S. Broad Street, Mobile, Alabama.
