Obituary for Eliza Brand

Sister Eliza "Muh" Brand born July 08, 1920 in Selma AL., to late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander and Nettie Florence Calhoun. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of Saint Luke Missionary Baptist church for more than fifty years. She was a devoted member of the Sunday School Department, Senior Usher Board, and Mission Department. She was a dedicated volunteer of the United Methodist Inner City Mission. She was preceded in death by her husband, Watson Brand Sr., two brothers Alexander Jr. and Horace Calhoun; one sister Leola Clay. Sis Brand leaves to cherish her memories Twelve Children: Zelma Harrison, Long Island NY., Georgia (Rev John) Harris Sr., Watson Brand, Columbia MO., Mustafa (Mary) Madyun, Martha Brand, Shirley (Frank) Finklea, Dorchester MA., Annie (James) Brand, Rose Brand, Don Brand, Bobby (Sheila) Brand, Jerry (Brenda) Brand, and Michael Brand. Thirty-one Grandchildren; Fifty-four Great-grandchildren; One Great- great grandchild. Ten Sisters, Rose Robins, Essie Quarles, Bernice Calhoun of Los Angeles, CA, Lizzie Virgies, Nettie Brown of Detroit MI., Novella Brown, Mary Hale, Etta Quarles of Selma Al., Janie (Paul) Jones Raleigh NC., and Marie McCreary of Mobile, Al. Three Brothers; Willie (Virgie), George, and Frank (Catherine) Calhoun. One Sister-In Law; Rebecca Perkins of Charlotte NC.; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006, from 1 to 8 P.M. at Small's Mortuary. Funeral services will be held from the St. Luke Baptist Church, 751 Texas St., Mobile, AL on Friday, December 1, 2006 after 10am until 12 noon funeral hour. Interment in Lawn Haven Cemetery. Arrangements by SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 S Broad St, Mobile, AL.
