Obituary for Essie Wells-Boykins

Essie Lee Wells Boykin-a native of Lucedale, MS. and a resident of Prichard, born December 11, 1922 peacefully exchanged this life Saturday, September 22, 2007 at her residence. She was a member of First Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health failed. She was a member of the Mobile County Mass Choir, a faithful member of the I.B.P.O.E. of the W. Shell Bayou #337, Leah Chapter O.E.S. #33 and Heroines of Jericho Tabitha Court #47. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Veria (Robert) Scott and Judy Wells, both of Prichard, son, Mose Ben (Flossie) Wells, University City, MO., two step-daughters, Pauline Williams, Mobile and Ethel Briggs, Wilmington, DE., step-son, Columbus Boykin, Jr., Mobile, brother, Herbert Wells, Moss Point, MS., sixteen grands, four step-grands, thirty-seven great-grands, ten great great-grands, a devoted extended family the Dukes family, Mobile, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Martin Lester, and nurse Brenda. Her remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary Friday, September 28, 2007 from 1-8pm and Saturday, September 29, 2007 after 9am until the 11am funeral hour First Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Lamar D. Brady, pastor and officiating minister Interment Gethsemane North, Eight Mile, AL. Dignified and professional services are entrusted to SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 S. Broad St, Mobile, AL.
