Obituary for GEORGE JR.

George Chaney, Jr.- A native of Montgomery, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL passed this life for eternal rest on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at a local hospital. Mr. Chaney was a Supervisor for the City of Mobile Parks & Recreation Department for 35 years. His crew and co-workers affectionately knew him as Mr. G. He was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1966. After attending Caver State Technical College, he became a professional Barber for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Mr. Harry and Mrs. Emma Chaney and three brothers Willie V. Thomas, Tyrone and Andrew Chaney. He leaves to cherish his memories two loving and devoted daughters Erica Chaney and Kia Hunter; a long time companion Ivory Hunter; two loving and devoted brothers Steve Chaney and Daniel (Doris) Chaney all of Mobile, AL; two aunts Jessie (George) Parker of Mobile, AL and Ida Smith of Montgomery, AL; five nieces, and two nephews. A host of other relatives and friends, three devoted friends Emanuel (Belinda) Roberts, Barbara Chaney, and Carra Wright all of Mobile, AL. A visitation will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 at Small's Mortuary, 950 S. Broad St., Mobile, AL from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 20, 2010 during the visitation hour of 10:00 am - 11:00 am at which time the funeral services will begin with Father Anietie Akama Ukanide, MSP officiating at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2034 St. Stephens Rd., Mobile, AL. The interment will be at the Catholic Cemetery, 1700 Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Ave., Mobile, AL.
