Obituary for Gladys J PACKER

Gladys Jean Jackson-Packer was born to the union of the late Delcenia and James Jackson on Wednesday, February 25, 1948, in Walker Springs, Alabama. She made her transition into eternal life on Friday, January 6, 2012 in Sneads, Florida, while visiting her husband. At an early age, Gladys accepted Christ as her Lord and Savor and united with Sweet Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Walker Springs, Alabama. After moving to Mobile, Alabama, she was a member of Little Welcome Baptist Church, Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church and was a current member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Norvel Glover. She graduated from Central High School and was employed at Mobile Infirmary Hospital for sixteen years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delcenia and James Jackson, and her brother, James Jackson, Jr. Gladys? life and memories are survived, cherished and loved by her husband, Shelton Packer of Sneads, FL; five devoted children, Vanessa Packer, Roderick Packer, Pamela (LeBarron) Williams and Darius Packer, all of Mobile, AL and Shandra Packer of Birmingham, AL; a loving biological father, Dink Nicholson of Baltimore, MD; four loving grandchildren, Shaquetta Reese, DeUndre Packer, JaKaelyn Williams and John Lucious, all of Mobile, AL; three devoted sisters, Margaret Dortch of Mobile, AL, Sharon Roberts of Fayetteville, NC and Melissa (Matthew) Burrell of Birmingham, AL; four devoted brothers, Jeremiah (Vernessa) Jackson and Lamone Jackson, both of Mobile, AL; Kenneth Jackson of San Diego, CA and Nathaniel Jackson of Sacramento, CA; two brothers-in-law, Allen (Kathy) Packer of Tallahassee, FL and Narcelis (Mildred) Packer of Mobile, AL; nine nieces, twelve nephews, a godson, Lance (Pudgie) Rogers, and a host of other cousins, friends and neighbors. Gladys gave love and happiness to each life she touched and shall live on through her family and friends forever. Her remains will lie in state Friday, January 13, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Small?s Mortuary, Mobile, AL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral hour at Nazaree Full Gospel Church, 1695 W I-65 Service Road North, Mobile, AL 36618.
