Hattie McFarland Burks-- a native of Columbia, MS and a longtime resident of Mobile, born July 1, 1923 to the late Will and Arvillia McFarland, departed this life Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in Birmingham, AL. She was a member of Living Word Christian Center, a past member of First Baptist Church Baltimore Street and Rock Of Faith Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie, two sons, Fred Burks, and Willie Ray Dagons, four brothers, Fred Jackson, Curtis, Norman and John McFarland.She leaves to cherish her memories three son, Jerry(Martha) Bell, Charles(Sharrien) Burks, Mobile and Herman(Sharon) Burks, Huntingdon, PA., three daughters, Lula(Alfred) Howard, Kathleen (Neil) Mason, Birmingham, AL. and Vanessa (Joseph) County, Slidell, LA., twenty grands, twenty-three great-grands, brother, Charles (Brenda) McFarland, Detroit, MI., two sisters, Janella Owens, both of Detroit, MI., Ann(Curtis) Davis, Atlanta, GA., two daughters-in-law, Barbara Burks, Mobile and Betty Dagons, Hattiesburg, MS., four sisters-in-law, Margaret Jackson and Edna McFarland, both of Columbia, MS., Carrie McFarland, Chicago, IL., and Lillian Mc Farland, Houston, TX., aunt Etta McLeod, Columbia, MS., devoted niece, Luverta McFarland, Jackson, MS., nephews, other relatives and friends, two lifelong friends, Dorothy Coleman and Vivian Langham . Visitation will be Saturday, May 26, 2007 from 8am until the 10am funeral hour Interment Lawn Haven Cemetery
