Obituary for Joan "Joann" Peavy

Joan (Joann) Peavy: A native and lifelong resident of Mt. Vernon, AL. Born on May 8, 1947 and departed this earthly life for her heavenly home on October 23, 2019.
Joann graduated from Rosa A. Lott High School in 1965 and a graduate of S. D. Bishop State College in Early Childhood Development. She used her knowledge and skills in serving the children in her community and surrounding communities, working with Mobile Community Action/ Mt. Vernon Head Start Program until she retired after 44 years of service.
She was known as Ms. Peavy to many children from generations to generations. A dedicated and lifelong member of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church Family, where she served faithful in the Senior Choir. Joann used her gifts and talents of singing to penetrate the lives of so many, her passion and love for singing goes beyond measures.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odell Peavy and Flora Peavy, nephew; Winston A. Coby, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories two devoted sisters and brother in laws; Dorothy (Joe) Brown, Sr., Citronelle, AL, Patricia (Winston) Coby, Sr., Mt. Vernon, AL, aunts; Mae Ella Todd, Jackson, AL and Clyde Jeanette Hall, San Antonio, TX, uncle; TS Peavy, Pensacola, FL, nieces; Rose Brown, Mooresville, NC, and one devoted niece Sonya Coby, Mt. Vernon, AL, nephews; Joe (Vera) Brown, Jr., Citronelle, AL, and Keith Coby, Arlington, TX, sixteen great nieces and nephew devoted Amber (Anna) Coby, & Alferis Coby, six great-great nieces and nephews, devoted cousins; Evelyn Davis, Cynthia Sullivan, Roy Flott and Diana Mabien, devoted friends; Diann Peoples, Lolia Olds, Helen Jackson, Cora Walker, Walter Dees and Clarence Roberts. A host of other devoted cousins, relatives and friends.

We would like to thank the Family of Ms. Joan "Joann" Peavy for entrusting Small's Mortuary Mount Vernon, Alabama with the Final and most sacred arrangements of their loved one.
