Obituary for Joe-Anne Williams Duffey

Life for our beloved Joe-Anne Duffey transcended from her earthly home to the joy of eternal life during the early morning hours of August 21, 2015. Born June 14, 1964, Joe-Anne was the youngest of five siblings. Preceding her in death was her husband Alvin Duffey, mother Doris Williams, and father Joe Sullivan. She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young child, joining Central Missionary Baptist Church in Prichard, Alabama where she remained an active member, singing in the youth choir and serving in many capacities until she relocated to Jonesboro, Georgia where she attended New Bread of Life Christian center. Joe-Anne was a graduate of Mattie T. Blount High School where she mastered the sport of basketball as a center and studied at Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia. She was employed for many years at Wal-Mart in Stockbridge, Georgia rising to the position as a Customer Service Manager before being employed at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Joe-Anne leaves to cherish her memory , one son, Jarvis Williams( Rex, GA), three daughters, Jovonda Williams (Georgetown, KY), Jasmine Duffey (Stockbridge, GA) and Jawanda Duffey ( Rex, GA); step daughter, Janitris Lumpkin (Jonesboro, GA), grandson Demarion (Alex) Lumpkin; two brothers; Derrick (Sandra) Williams, Roderick (Dazzerine) Williams of Shreveport, LA, two sisters, LaRhonda ( Leandrew) Pears and Cynthia Williams ( Gary) –Brown ( Mobile, AL ), brothers-in-law Ernest (Wanda Kay) Duffey Jr. and Mickey Hogan; sisters-in-law, Barbara Bowman, Minster Beverly Warner, Maxine Willis, and Sharon Plas all of McDonough, GA. aunts: Minnie Levingston (Prichard, AL), Vivian Hollins ( Mobile, AL ), Geraldine Sims ( Detroit, MI) and , Connie Williams-Webb (Mobile, AL ), Uncles: Willie Anderson (Memphis, TN), and Sgt. Robert Williams Sr. Lifelong friends: Brenda Thrash (Prichard, AL) and Synetta Tate ( Mobile, AL) and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, relative, friends, and co-workers. A memorial services will be held at 11am on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Small's Mortuary Chapel, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy, Mobile, AL 36605.
