Obituary for Joe Emerson Bryant Sr.

Joe Nathan Emerson Bryant Sr.--a very special person, was born to Mr. Richard Bryant, Sr. and Minnie Walford Bryant on July 13, 1929 in Newbern, Alabama. He made his home going departure on September 25, 2008 to find his resting place with our heavenly father. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John Bryant, Jessie Bryant, Sylvester Bryant, and M. C. Bryant. Joe confessed Christ at an early age at Salem Baptist Church. He graduated from Hale County Training School in Greensboro, Alabama in 1953. His hope and joy as a young man was to be a professional baseball player. On September 18, 1958 Joe joined in Holy Matrimony with Rebecca Lee Harris Bryant. From their union five children were born, Patricia Bryant Foutner, Doris Bryant Harris, Joe Nathan Bryant, Jr., Ozzie Ray (Alfredia) Bryant and Brenda Lee Bryant, who all reside in Detroit, Michigan. Joe was a loyal father, brother, uncle and great friend. He was a community person and a humanitarian. He was an outstanding citizen of Mobile, Alabama for approximately 60 years. He worked for Chin Laundry for approximately 40+ years before retiring. Joe will be truly missed by his children; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Elnora Prior of Gulfport, Mississippi, Richard Bryant and Herbert Bryant, both of Mobile; two god children, NIcole Johnson and Anthony Black, both of Mobile, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and friends, and wonderful neighbors from Emerson Garderns Apartments.
