Obituary for Johnnie Thomas Austin Jr.

John Thomas Austin, Jr. was born February 10, 1944 to the late Catherine Bradford Jones and the late John Thomas Austin, Sr. on Sunday March 8, 2015 he very peacefully went home to be with God. John graduated from Central High School in 1961 and went immediately into the Air Force. He was injured early in his military career and retired as a disable Veteran. He then began to attend Dillard University where he received a degree in accounting and recently retired from the Alabama Department of Labor. John was an active member of the Mobile Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maysville. He was a dedicated choir member and held a number of other positions until his illness limited his participation. John is survived by a devoted wife of 48 years, Rosemary Seaton Austin; a devoted daughter and son-in-law, Dione (Belden) Howell; cherished grandchildren, Austin Tyler and Avery Rose Howell; three loving sisters, Alma Jean Hicks of Hanover, PA, Beverly Carolyn Jones of Mobile, AL and Brenda (Clausell) Mathis of Montgomery, AL; one brother, JeRoyal Cobb; His memories will always be cherished by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at St. Joseph Catholic Church (Maysville) 1703 Dublin St. Mobile, AL. A private Interment will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL.
