Obituary for Johnnie Mae Campbell

“An Angel Called Home”



Johnnie Mae (Rocker) Campbell was born February 15, 1943 to parents Clarence and Alma Rocker. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and has been a devout church member up until her illness. She was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church and a proud 1961 graduate of Central High School. She retired from the MCPSS with more than 30 years in the Barton Academy location, Federal Programs Dept. She served in multiple capacities in the church, family and community including as class reunion secretary/treasurer, LeFlore High School Booster Club Member. She was known for setting a Christ-like example in all of her endeavors and having a “gentle spirit”. She will be recognized as a notably outstanding citizen of the state of Alabama and the city of Mobile by the state legislature.

She leaves to two wonderful sons, Rodney of Stafford, VA and Marcell of Mobile, AL; one grandson, Ashton Jevon Campbell of Santa Rosa, CA; a host of other relatives and friends to cherish her memories.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 10am until the 12 noon funeral hour at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 508 Bay Bridge Rd. Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
