Obituary for Joseph Owens

Mr. Joseph Owens was born October 8, 1936 in Perry County, in the town of Uniontown, Alabama. He was the oldest child born to the late Laura Price and Walter Johnson. He departed this life on Monday, March 9, 2009, at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Walter Johnson; his mother, Mrs. Laura Price; and his brother, Mr. Percy Owens, all of Mobile, Alabama. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory a devoted sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca (James) Armstead of Demopolis, AL; a brother, Roosevelt (Alen) Payton of South Fallsburg, NY; sisters Betty Coley, Mary Price, and Martha Price, all of Mobile; one uncle, Jesse Owens of Mobile; a devoted friend, Leola Woods; a special and loving caretaker of many years, Bessie Royster, both of Mobile; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at Small's Mortuary on Friday, March 13, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and after 12:00 on Saturday March 14, 2009 at the Aimwell Baptist Church in Uniontown, AL. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral hour. Interment will follow in Uniontown Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to SMALL'S MORTURARY, INC 950 S. Board Street Mobile, AL 36603.
